Sweet Tea with Notes of Earl Grey

A Southern Staple

I've been drinking tea my entire life. Growing up, my mom made weekly pitchers of sweet tea that we'd enjoy every night with dinner. This simple tea recipe is sweet, easy and doesn't even require boiling a pot of water. It’s the perfect refreshing companion on a hot summer’s day. I've taken a pitcher to countless gatherings, and I always get asked how I make it.

I think the notes of Earl Grey elevate it a bit.

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Fill your large Pyrex measuring bowl to 8 cups.

  2. Tie 3 Cold Brew Tea Bags and 1 Earl Grey Tea Bag together.

  3. Seep until water has reached a dark brown color.

(My mom prefers to let hers seep overnight in the refrigerator, 6-12 hours, for most flavorful results)

  4. Once your tea is done seeping, pour 1.5 to 2 cups sugar into a one gallon pitcher.

  5. Next, remove tea bags from your Pyrex measuring bowl and pour the seeped tea into the one gallon pitcher. It should be about half way full.

  6. Next, fill the rest of the way with cold water and mix thoroughly.

    voilà — you're done!

Super simple, and it always tastes sweeter the next day. Feel free to squeeze in some lemon for a little lift!
