Long before this became my work, I discovered a love for style and writing.
As a young girl, I was equally captivated by the written word and the quiet language of beautiful things. I filled notebooks with poetry, studied different writing styles, became a contributor for a literary and art magazine, while serving as editor of my school's newspaper.
At the same time, I found myself endlessly drawn to personal style. I was curious not only about what people wore, but why. I studied the history of fashion houses, admired women whose wardrobes reflected confidence, and learned that true style is something cultivated over time.
As I grew older, that curiosity expanded beyond the wardrobe. Photography, interiors, architecture, travel, and thoughtful design all became part of the same conversation. I began to recognize that style was never confined to clothing alone. It shapes the homes we create, the books we collect, the places we return to, and the way we move through everyday life.
In 2013, I began sharing those interests online, and soon after launched a small e-commerce business focused on thoughtfully curated European clothing. A few years later, I left my corporate career to open a European-inspired women's store in downtown Nashville. For five wonderful years, I had the privilege of helping women build wardrobes with intention while traveling to Paris and New York in search of timeless labels and enduring craftsmanship.
Owning that shop taught me something I still believe today: beautiful style is rarely the result of chasing trends. It comes from developing discernment.
From learning to recognize quality, proportion, simplicity, and what truly feels like home to you.
When my oldest daughter turned three, I made the difficult decision to close the shop and devote more of my time to family life. As I look back, I can see that every chapter—writing, entrepreneurship, travel, fashion, and interiors—was quietly leading me here.
Today, Amelia Styles is where those lifelong interests come together. Through essays, Savoir, interior projects, and thoughtful recommendations, I hope to encourage a slower, more intentional approach to personal style and home.
My greatest joy is helping others cultivate taste. Not as a pursuit of perfection or luxury, but as a way of noticing beauty, choosing with care, and creating a life that feels deeply personal.
I believe style is less about owning more and more about learning to see.
